A.M.E.N Goes To The Call And Response Conference!

The Anglican multi-ethnic network (AMEN) is a group of individuals, organizations, and churches within the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA) dedicated to helping the church better embody the universal saving power of the gospel through planting multi-ethnic churches and/or increasing the presence of people of color in existing churches.

To this end, we are excited to announce that we have agreed to be partner with organizations such as CRU, Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, and the Wesleyan Church to sponsor the Call and Response Conference which will be hosted at Northeastern Seminary at Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, NY from Oct 4–6, 2018. The Call and Response Conference:

Taking its name and inspiration from the black preaching tradition in which the pastor and congregation joined together in the effective proclamation of the gospel, this conference will call together church folks, marketplace and nonprofit leaders, pastors, practitioners, artists, and activists from across generations to respond faithfully to the challenges and opportunities of the present moment in America. We seek to offer a prophetic witness to the church and the nation while remaining biblically-grounded in a holistic gospel that has the power to transform lives and communities.

This conference is strategic because it gives those dedicated to a biblical vision of multi-ethnicity a chance to learn from leaders who are much further along in the work that we hope to do. It also gives Anglican laity and clergy the chance to learn directly from Black Christians  about the issues they are facing in America. The conference is for everyone who has or wants to have people of color in their congregation.  Here’s how you can help:

  • Support AMEN’s sponsorship of the conference by donating. (see below as well) AMEN is funded strictly through donations.  We need to raise $3750 to cover the cost of our sponsorship. This sponsorship will give us a chance to introduce a vision for more diverse Anglicanism to the wider Christian world through presence on the conference website, participation in panels, and through an information booth at the conference.
  • Encourage your church to consider donating to AMEN to help us sponsor the conference
  • Register for the conference and organize a team from your church or diocese to attend. We are hoping to have an AMEN meet up during the conference.
  • Pray for the conference!
